getting home after midnight
leaving Oregon
worrying that my suitcase is overweight
not getting any sleep on my flights

what my mind does when I try to sleep
me: oh this pillow is so comfortable! I can't wait to fall asleep.
myself: no! you can't fall asleep yet! what if (fill in the blank) will need you for something!!
me: but I'm yawning! that means it's time for bed, right?
myself: no, no, no... it just means that you should stare at your computer screen until you're not tired anymore.
me: but I always thought...
myself: wrong! you just should stop thinking for a while. go online shopping instead.
me: online shopping? no... I can't do that.
myself: facebook? twitter? tumblr? all great alternatives!
me: well, I haven't checked any of them in a while... NO! I need to sleep!
myself: you can! after you check all your social media outlets. you never know what's going on and you don't want to miss out on someone's big news!
it just goes on and on and on... until I'm on tumblr again, at quarter after 3 in the morning, with no hopes of falling asleep. ugh.

agreed. add this to the long list of reasons why I hate Fox News and their limited viewpoints.
today
I turned 25. I woke up feeling no different than yesterday when I was 24. but by the end of the day, after a strong run in the morning, birthday voice mails, text messages, and wall posts, and wonderful birthday surprises throughout the day (Starbucks, a dinner serenade, and frozen yogurt), I felt confident.
I think 25 is going to be a pretty great year. and, I think I now know what 25 is...
